Belgian-Style Ales has hand-selected these world-renowned brews because they should be on any enthusiast's Belgian beer bucket list. This sampler makes a convenient and delicious way to introduce yourself (or a friend) to the pinnacle of the craft of Belgian brewing. All six have Ratebeer.com ratings of 94 to 100!

STRONG DARK ALE
Chimay Grande Reserve (blue) Trappist Ale (ABV 9.0%)
is rated 100 on Ratebeer.com and 96 on BeerAdvocate.com. This copper-brown Trappist Belgian Strong Dark Ale has a creamy head and a fragrance of fresh yeast and roasted malt. Considered to be the "classic" Chimay ale, it exhibits a considerable depth of fruity, peppery character (including hints of plum, raisin and nutmeg).

PALE ALE
Orval Trappist Ale (ABV 6.9%)
is rated 99 on Ratebeer.com and 94 on BeerAdvocate.com. Often referred to as the Queen of Trappists, its color is cloudy, light sunset-orange with a large, foamy head. Aroma is complex with fruit, hops, leather and spices. Its distinctive taste, with profound hop bitterness and a long dry finish, is a result of the use of dry hopping and Brettanomyces (a local wild yeast) during maturation.

QUADRUPEL
Trappistes Rochefort 10 Trappist Ale (ABV 11.3%)
is rated 100 on Ratebeer.com and 100 on BeerAdvocate.com. It's dark reddish-brown with a compact head; the bouquet is of port wine, leather, apricots, spices and a touch of bittersweet chocolate. Its complex, dark fruit flavors are balanced by some bitterness and a firm malt backbone. One of the world's most intriguing beverages.

DUBBEL
Westmalle Dubbel Trappist Ale (ABV 7.0%)
is rated 99 on Ratebeer.com and 93 on BeerAdvocate.com. A dark, reddish amber-brown Trappist ale with a creamy head and the fragrance of caramel and dark fruit. The flavor is rich, balanced and complex: herby, fruity and deeply malty with a long, dry, fresh-bitter finish that hints at tropical fruit. A classic Belgian Dubbel.

TRIPEL
Karmeliet Tripel (ABV 8.4%)
is rated 99 on Ratebeer.com and 96 on BeerAdvocate.com. The recipe uses wheat, oats, and barley, and is based on one created in the 17th century by Carmelite monks. Pours medium gold and clear with a creamy white head; the mix of grains gives a dry, crisp and refreshing flavor, with aromas of citrus and spice. A restrained hop bitterness balances flavors of toffee and malt.

QUADRUPEL
St. Bernardus Abt 12 Abbey Ale (ABV 10.0%)
is rated 100 on Ratebeer.com and 100 on BeerAdvocate.com. It's an award winning quadrupel that pours a hazy brown with a frothy beige head and expressive carbonation. It boasts the aroma and flavor of dried fruits, plums and raisins, coffee, cherry, bread and caramel. The finish is dry, warm and slightly bitter.
