Daura Gluten Removed Lager (ABV 5.4%) from S.A. Damm has a golden color with shades of amber and slight hints of green. It is clean and sparkling. The head is creamy and long lasting. The abundant bubbles are delicate and lively. The generous aroma is of fresh spices.
Daura maintains the flavor of real beers as it is made with the same main ingredient: barley malt. During the manufacturing phase the chain of gluten is broken through a process of enzymatic hydrolyzation and protein precipitation, resulting in a final product that contains under 20 parts per million of gluten. While many people with celiac disease seem to be able to tolerate gluten-removed beers, many claim that these beers trigger adverse symptoms. Still, in Europe, these beers are considered gluten-free, and safe for people with celiac disease.
Brewery Information:
Sociedad Anónima Damm is a Spanish brewery founded in Barcelona in 1876 by two Alsatians, August Kuentzmann Damm and Joseph Damm. Their first beer (now known as Estrella Damm) was a lager lighter than Central European, adapted to the climate and tastes of the Mediterranean, making it known as "Mediterranean lager beer". Today it is the main brewery in Barcelona.
