Belgian Blonde Strong Tripel

Brewed by: Brasserie De La Senne
Country: Belgium
Style: Tripel

ABV (Alcohol by Volume): 8%
Ratebeer.com rating: 90
BeerAdvocate.com rating: 87

Jambe-de-Bois (ABV 8%) from Brasserie De La Senne is a generously hopped Tripel that pays tribute to the Belgian Revolution of 1830. Blond, very balanced, and treacherous: its big flavor masks the alcohol, which makes it dangerously easy to drink.

Fermentation flavors take the lead, with notes of pear and ripe banana. The hops lend floral and spicy notes of white pepper and nutmeg. The absence of residual sugars leaves the finish dry and lightly bitter.

Ratebeer.com rating: 90 (out of 100) 11.2 oz bottle.

Brewery Information:

La Brasserie De La Senne or De Zennebrouwerij is named for the river Zenne which flows through Brussels, where the brewery is located. Founded by Bernard Leboucq and Yvan De Baets, the brewery has a reputation for brewing fine ales and "frustratingly rare blends" that often include lambic from the nearby Cantillon Brewery.

Leboucq and De Baets do everything themselves, using traditional methods. The beers are neither filtered nor pasteurized, and no additives are used. Their philosophy is to brew beers that are characterful, but not necessarily strong. With an annual production of 1,800 hectoliters, the demand for the beers currently exceeds production capacity.

A familiar Tripel

Do you like Chimay Cinq Cents? If so, then you'll definitely like this one. It's just a little less intense, a little milder, but it blooms up really nicely in a chalice. A very drinkable Tripel, definitely worth an addition.
