The Van Steenberge Tasting Sampler lets you discover the exclusive taste of six living beers brewed by Belgian family brewers. The unique brewing process with its second fermentation in the bottle ensures that the flavor continues to evolve. Includes six 11.2 oz bottles from the Van Steenberge Brewery. Set includes one each of the following ales: Gulden Draak 9000, Monk's Café Grand Cru, Gulden Draak, Augustijn Blond, Piraat, and Gulden Draak Imperial Stout.
Gulden Draak 9000 (ABV 10.7%) is a Quadruple ale that contains four times more malt than a typical lager. Three kinds of malt give the beer its deep golden amber color and fruity scent. Enjoy its sweet and subtle taste.
Monk's Café Grand Cru (ABV 5.5%), a Flemish Sour ale, is a blend of 3-year-old aged and freshly brewed triple ales. This blend is then aged for 6 months in oak casks where it achieves the fresh, mildly acidic character that harks back to the origins of brewing.
Gulden Draak (ABV 10.5%) is named after the legendary golden dragon on top of the belfry in Ghent. Dark, with a creamy head and a taste of burnt malt and coffee, plus a gentle hint of hops.
Augustijn Blond (ABV 7%) is an amber blond monastic beer for any occasion. It combines malty, fruity, and hoppy aromas with a hint of vanilla. Finish is slightly bitter but smooth.
Piraat (ABV 10.5%) is a light amber Belgian Strong Ale with a full white head. It pleasantly overwhelms you with a bitter, spicy, malty, and aromatic character.
Gulden Draak Imperial Stout (ABV 12%) is deep, dark, and rich. With chocolate and banana aromas, its powerful taste of roasted grains has a bittersweet finish. An ideal dessert beer.
Brewery Information:
Located in Ertvelde, a village in the East Flanders region of Belgium, the Van Steenberge Brewery began in 1784 as a farm brewery (like many hundreds of others in the region) selling beer to local cafes and pubs.
The brewcraft evident in the ales produced resulted in increasing demand; over time, beer revenue significantly outpaced farming revenue, allowing the Van Steenberge heirs to concentrate fully on the brew business.
Today, still family-owned in the sixth generation, the Van Steenberge Brewery distributes award winning ales to more than a dozen countries including Italy, Spain, and the United States.
