Abbaye de Saint Bon-Chien Grand Cru (2019 Sot Terne 2) (ABV 11%) from BFM (Brasserie des Franches-Montagnes) begins with their Abbaye de St. Bon-Chien, a strong sour ale of mixed fermentation, aged for a year in old oak wine barrels. This beer is aged an additional 6 months in Sauterne barrels.
Brewed in 2019 and bottled in 2020, it has a complex nose, woody and spicy, with cinnamon, dried fruits, cashew, and candy sugar. Taste is full and round, with intense sour notes reminiscent of apricot. The long, expressive finish is underlined by woody vanilla notes.
