Switzerland
Style:
Imperial Stout

ABV: 10.27%

Brasserie des Franches-Montagnes created this Jurassian Imperial Stout in honor of Alex Rouge, a revolutionist.  "Jurassian" refers to the people, dialect (Patois jurassien), and culture of the Jura region, particularly the French-speaking area of the Swiss Jura known for its distinct identity, history of separatism, and rich natural landscapes.  This area is famous for watchmaking and dairy, all stemming from the Jura mountains.

This unique imperial stout pours almost black and is intense and complex.  Taste is well-balanced roasted, fruity and licorice notes with a mild bitterness and a hint of sweetness. With its dark color and dense coffee-flavored foam, the aroma is rich with licorice, bourbon, vanilla and Sarawak pepper.  Dry hopping notes and roasted malt are also perceptible.  On the palate, it starts with burly and creamy notes, followed by slightly sour, and finishing with a long, subtle tartness.
