Brett Saison (ABV 5.5%) from Brasserie De La Senne is a golden, perfectly balanced Pale Ale. It develops fruity and hoppy flavors that recall dry apricots and orange marmalade. The ensemble leans on a malty note, as well as a nice bitterness. Born in the basements of a Brussels squat in 2002, it is the founding beer of Brasserie de la Senne. 11.2 oz capped bottle.

“This one pours a golden clear yellow color, with a small head, and lots of lacing. (Aroma) like lemongrass, grapefruit, tea, and sugar cookie malt. This is pretty hoppy for a Belgian beer – with a really clean citrusy and tea-like hop character splashing across a simple cookie-like but sturdy malt backbone. It finishes quite dry and bitter, and tastes very refreshing. This is light bodied, sharp, dry, and quite drinkable. This is one of the hoppier Belgian pale ales, and it’s pretty delicious.” As reviewed by GreesyFizeek from New York on Beer Advocate 2/8/2024

La Brasserie De La Senne or De Zennebrouwerij is named for the river Zenne which flows through Brussels, where the brewery is located. Founded by Bernard Leboucq and Yvan De Baets, the brewery has a reputation for brewing fine ales and "frustratingly rare blends" that often include lambic from the nearby Cantillon Brewery.

Leboucq and De Baets do everything themselves, using traditional methods. The beers are neither filtered nor pasteurized, and no additives are used. Their philosophy is to brew beers that are characterful, but not necessarily strong. With an annual production of 1,800 hectoliters, the demand for the beers currently exceeds production capacity.
