Van Steenberge De Garre (ABV 11%) is the house beer for the famous De Garre pub in Brugges, Belgium. De Garre lies hidden in one of the smallest streets of Bruges in the shadow of the Belfry. This small and cozy pub offers you different kinds of beverages, including the exclusive, Tripel van De Garre. This Belgian Tripel packs a hearty punch at 11% ABV, so the pub owner only allows three per customer. The beer is brewed by Brouwerij Van Steenberge, famous for Piraat and Gulden Draak. It is brewed with a traditional Belgian triple base with two times the amount of malt, hence the high ABV. 25.4 oz (corked & caged) bottle.
Food Pairings:
Creamy cheeses like brie. Tangy blue cheese. Aged Cheddar. White fish, ham, lamb. Charcuterie trays with salami, cheese and dried cranberries.
Brewery Information:
Located in Ertvelde, a village in the East Flanders region of Belgium, the Van Steenberge Brewery began in 1784 as a farm brewery (like many hundreds of others in the region) selling beer to local cafes and pubs.
The brewcraft evident in the ales produced resulted in increasing demand; over time, beer revenue significantly outpaced farming revenue, allowing the Van Steenberge heirs to concentrate fully on the brew business.
Today, still family-owned in the sixth generation, the Van Steenberge Brewery distributes award winning ales to more than a dozen countries including Italy, Spain, and the United States.
