Schieve X-mas Winter Ale from Brasserie De La Senne is a reinvention of their Christmas ale. Brasserie de La Senne is known to push boundaries when creating their beers. This year they are again experimenting with the traditional style, but without the usual syrupiness or excess of spices typical of winter warmers. “Schieve X-Mas has a firm, beige foam and a copper color with a red glow. The aroma offers a perfect balance between malt and hops. The scent is a delicious combination of caramel, biscuit and pudding, with hints of candied fruit, mandarin, bitter orange and licorice - without using a single gram of herbs or fruit! The beer has a nice, long-lasting bitterness and a light, dry aftertaste. It is warming, but the alcohol is subtly present.

La Brasserie De La Senne or De Zennebrouwerij is named for the river Zenne which flows through Brussels, where the brewery is located. Founded by Bernard Leboucq and Yvan De Baets, the brewery has a reputation for brewing fine ales and "frustratingly rare blends" that often include lambic from the nearby Cantillon Brewery.
