Komes Imperial Stout is a strong and intensive, top-fermented beer brewed with Ukrainian hop varieties Klon and Slovianka.  The flavor is distinctly roasted with coffee and chocolate notes thanks to roasted barley.  After long storage in the brewery, the alcohol in the beer becomes delicately warming.  Mouth feel is rich and oily due to the rye malt.  Within 96 months of its minimum shelf life, it becomes smoother and acquires more dark fruit notes.

Steak, barbecue, game meat, chocolate, strong cheese.

Browar Fortuna still brews beer in a way very similar to how it was produced back in the 19th century. It is among a dozen or so breweries in Europe where traditional, open fermentation vats are used. When yeast is added, the beer ferments as nature intended, without being subjected to pressure or temperature. This makes the yeast happier as it is not distressed and has the ideal conditions for growth. The result is a unique, fresh flavor and a rich aroma.

 

Their production philosophy is based on natural ingredients of top quality and artisan production methods like traditional, unhurried open fermentation. It takes the highest quality ingredients as well as the brewers’ art and involvement, topped with valuable time.
