Belgian Fruit Lambic

Country: Belgium
Brewed by: Lindemans Brewery
Style: Fruit Lambic
Color: Golden

ABV: 2.5%
Ratebeer.com rating: 57
BeerAdvocate.com rating: 87

Lindemans Peche Lambic is a Fruit Lambic that pours hazy golden with a light white head.

Top fermentation with the wild airborne yeasts specific to Belgium's Senne region, and the addition of sliced peaches to the brew maturation process yield a tangy, softly carbonated ale with an ABV of 2.5%.

The aroma and flavor of apples and sweet peaches dominates; the fruity esters, however, never overly sweet or cloying, are perfectly balanced by a soft and sour acidity.

The finish is delicately tart and crisp.

Food Pairings

Try with peach Melba, peaches in brandy, pear tarts, or other fruit desserts.

Refreshing with salade Niçoise or any favorite salad, savory crepes, Belgian waffles.

Serve at 45 °F in flute-shaped Lambic glass.

Brewery Information:

Lindemans Brewery
, initially a family farm in southwest Brussels, began commercial brewing operations in 1822. They specialized in Lambics – a unique style of wheat beer wholly dependent on wild airborne yeasts for fermentation as well as on an exceptionally long period of maturation up to 3 years.

Over time, brewery revenue gradually outpaced farming revenue and by 1930, the Lindemans family was able to cease farming operations altogether to concentrate fully on the brew business.

Today the brewery, still family owned, exports its award winning ales to a dozen countries including the US, where their ales outsell all other Lambics.

Not bad

Better than champagne, got it at Trader Joes on a whim for Easter. No regrets.

Summer in a bottle

Ok, so it was a bad idea to get hooked on a Belgian Lambic. Thank goodness for Belgian Ales! This beer, if you haven't had it, has a very sweet peachy flavor with the traditional little sour kick at the end. it's not unlike a peach cider, but with a nice head on it and a little yeasty flavor. It looks for all the world like a hefeweizen but tastes like a peach. Lindemanns makes many different flavors, but we find the peach to be most genial (most traditional is the kriek). Arrived quickly and in perfect condition - we're super pleased and trying not to drink it all in one lovely hot evening.
