St. Feuillien Five (ABV 5%) is pale blond, clear and bright. It has a strong sparkling character with fine bubbles and a fine, white, stable foam. The nose is fresh and hoppy with delicate fruity hints and nuances of citrus zest. The initial taste is sweet and slightly malty; some bitterness becomes apparent, but it never dominates. Overall, the taste is well-balanced, round, and full-bodied. St. Feuillien Five is easy to drink -- light, refreshing, and thirst-quenching. 11.2 oz bottle
Brewery Information:
Brasserie St. Feuillien ("Foo-Yen") had its start in the 7th century, when an Irish monk named Foylan or Foillan—a name which later was translated into the more French "Feuillien"—was killed in the village of Le Roeulx. A chapel was built in his honor, which, over time, became the Abbey St. Feuillien du Roeulx. The abbey featured a brewery to support itself, but was destroyed in the French Revolution. In 1873 the Friart family resumed brewing operations and to this day a portion of the proceeds is donated to charitable causes around the world, making St. Feuillien one of Belgium's oldest and most authentic Abbey Ales.
