Anno 1050 Marzen (ABV 5.5%) from Klosterbrauerei Weltenburg is a jewel of Bavarian brewing. Made with Hercules, Pearl, and Tradition hops and light and dark barley malts, it pours golden yellow with a compact head. Its bready and malty aroma is classic Marzen. The taste is a full-bodied balance of malt and invigorating herbal sweetness with notes of spice.
16.9 oz. capped bottle.
Food Pairing:
Strong cheese, roast meat, game birds

Weltenburg Abbey (Kloster Weltenburg): Weltenburg, Germany
Weltenburg Abbey is a Benedictine monastery in Weltenburg near Kelheim on the Danube in Bavaria, Germany. According to tradition, the abbey was founded in about 617 and is the oldest monastery in Bavaria, adopting the Benedictine Rule in the early 8th century. Besides the traditional duties of hospitality, the abbey has pastoral responsibility for two parishes. It is also active in farming and in adult education. It hosts conferences and lectures as well as concerts. Weltenburg Abbey brewery (Weltenburger Klosterbrauerei) is by some reckonings the oldest monastic brewery in the world, having been in operation since 1050 (although the title is disputed by Weihenstephan Abbey).
