Weyerbacher Merry Monks

Belgian Style Tripel

12 oz. bottle

Brewed by: Weyerbacher Brewing Co.
Country: United States
Style: Tripel

ABV (Alcohol by Volume): 9.3%
BeerAdvocate.com rating: 87

Weyerbacher’s Merry Monks is a nicely balanced example of a Belgian-style tripel.  Pilsner malt combined with an Abbey yeast strain yields a remarkable and complex flavor packed with notes of spice, banana and pear.  It finishes moderate to dry.  Because it is bottle conditioned it is able to cellar away from light.  It will become dryer with age.

Food Pairings:

Creamy cheese, delicate fish, ham, lamb, charcuterie.

Brewery Information:

Weyerbacher Brewing, located in Easton, Pennsylvania was founded in a livery stable downtown in 1995.  Eventually they outgrew that space and moved to the 30,000 sq. ft. facility they have now.  Predominantly known for Belgian Style ales, they also have an extensive barrel aging program, producing Riserva and Insanity.  They have also dabbled in lower ABV beers.
